Hi Shannon, I 100% echo what you said as a fellow Canadian. I think I used
CNIB's transcription service like once, but the turnaround was just way too
slow to be useful. I wish the contents of those sorts of transcription
services can somehow be more accessible to those worldwide, not just the
clients they specifically serve, which is what we're discussing on this
thread right now.
The music contents of the old CNIB library is now on the Accessible Books
Consortium (ABC), but CELA isn't signed up to ABC, so I can't download any
of the contents. By the way, the bulk of the contents of the old CNIB
library is RCM piano materials. Everything else makes up only about 10-15%
of the collection.
And yeah, I wish I had direct access to the huge collection over at NLS. I
am still able to browse and search the collection, but I can't download
anything.
