[Menvi-discuss] Resources for finding braille music

I'm surprised that list didn't have any mention of Sao Mai braille or their
SM Music Viewer. The Sao Mai braille programme includes import of xml, full
braille editing of music (and literary braille), might export as mp3 I
think, don't quote me on that and not sure about print music but think it
can be saved again as xml to use in print music software.

The SM viewer is an apple based app that will open xml and can read out
letter names of notes.

Both are free, the first is quite well developed, the second only in the
initial stages.

But the whole thing is being done in cooperation with the Daisy project and
is promising for free access to Braille music editing and working with
scores.

Subject: [Menvi-discuss] Resources for finding braille music

Hello all,

Although I haven't been able to find much more for mandolin instruction or
the Schumann concerto, and I haven't yet found that gold standard of a list
of all the braille scores produced and available either for purchase or
download in the world, people may find the following link a useful starting
point for their own searches:

https://www.brailleorch.org/en/resources/#scores

The National Federation of the Blind in the U.S. has a "Braille Music
Resources" page, but it is unfortunately very out-of-date and lists many
programs and services that are no longer in existence or that are no longer
offering transcription.

I hope this information is useful.

Stephanie
