Kaiti,
First of all, where do you go to school? I think that could have 
a lot to do with the problem.  If it's a large university, I've 
noticed people tend to be rude at those types of schools.  In any 
case, I think you need to get the band director involved.  Let 
him know what has been happening, he may be able to give you a 
solution that works for everyone.  If that doesn't work, I would 
go talk to the dean of the music department.  That kind of 
behavior should not be tolerated in a college setting.  After 
all, students go to college to prepare for the real world so if 
they want to keep a job, they shouldn't talk about other people 
like that.  Anyone else, feel free to comment on this.  I attend 
a small college and in the ensembles I participate in, no one 
acts like that.
