[Menvi-discuss] Violin vibrato

I'm not a violinist.  I was in the student orchestra with  my student a few 
years ago.  I thought it was like  this:
Hold the string down with the end of your finger  and wiggle your hand.
I hope someone else writes in, because I see descriptions of  arm vibrato 
(toward the scroll and then the body) and hand vibrato (side to  side), so I 
know I didn't learn much about it when we were in orchestra because  we 
weren't very advanced.

I would think the shoulder rest is included in the  rental.  It was when I 
rented one.   If it wasn't, it should  have been.  Go back and tell them 
they forgot to put one in the  case.  Also in the case should be rosin for the 
bow.

I'm  actually a pianist, but wanted to learn to play the violin since 
it's  such a lovely sound.
At the moment i'm still getting used to placing my  fingers on the right 
spots, but i'm getting that right  now.
