Hi, Brandon,
Glad to hear that GOODFEEL has been useful to you. As background for others
on our list who may not be aware, I want to point out that Brandon is an
advanced music student studying at the college level. We have many
customers using the GOODFEELR suite at the college level and some of them
also use traditional transcribers especially to braille material that is not
well-suited for GOODFEEL such as music theory tests that require students to
shade areas on a picture of a musical keyboard.
Music students at the elementary and high school level typically need much
less material; about a dozen pieces transcribed per semester for band,
orchestra, and chorus. Staff at their schools do learn to use GOODFEEL to
produce all of their ensemble materials at the local level which ultimately
saves a lot of time and money. GOODFEEL is designed to transcribe
stand-alone pieces of music. It is completely self-contained and includes
its own literary braille translator for transcribing things like titles and
lyrics. That being said, we do offer an optional integration with the
Duxbury Braille Translator to facilitate transcription of material that has
large blocks of text interspersed with musical examples such as music theory
textbooks. Details at:

Another thing to remember is that the Lime notation software is one of the
components of the GOODFEEL suite of accessible music software. It also
comes with the suite of software called Lime Aloud. Lime Aloud suite can do
everything that the GOODFEEL suite can do with the exception of transcribing
notation into braille. See www.DancingDots.com where you'll find separate
links to pages explaining features of the GOODFEEL suite and the Lime Aloud
suite in detail.

Hello,
It is excellent for a few pieces here and there, but I wouldn't use it for a
student unless they are only in choir. My school tried to get out of hiring
a transcriber and lets just say they have 2 now. The amount of music I get
as a voice student is massive and way beyond someone who doesn't know music
Braille to handle.
But for one or two pieces here and there it is great! It is also awesome if
you are in a pinch and need some music in an hour or so. Lime however is
required for any student wanting to do music theory and read their work when
it is finished.
Thanks,
Brandon Keith Biggs
