Regarding the query about Goodfeel, we here at the Lighthouse Music School in New York City use the products of Dancing Dots. Our music program would not have developed as it did without these programs - Goodfeel, LimeAloud, Caketalk. We produce all of our choral pieces with these programs (although we do use Finale to produce excellent large print for our students with low vision). As the sighted conductor of the chorus, I can enter the music into Lime and get excellent Braille copies for the singers. We also produce piano music, vocal music, instrumental music, scores for our instrumental ensembles and other pieces as we need them. I highly recommend these programs.

Maybe I'm just not following here, but if you're borrowing your uncle's guitar, why would the school wanting you to get your own be a problem? You wouldn't need to buy one, and if your school provides guitars for everyone else, then like Chris was saying you shouldn't have to get your own, unless he has a really good guitar that you want to use instead or something.

Hi Kaiti,
The issue is that the university wants to put markings on the
guitar to make it easier for me to find my way around. They are
saying that if I buy my own, they won't have withccory about
messing up my uncle's guitar. And, the students have to provide
their own guitar anyway.

the students have to provide their own guitar but the school want's you to use theirs?
what? i would use your uncles and have your uncle make the choice for you if he will let you do that to it or not.

Hi list,

I found out about Goodfeel (print to braille music convertion
software) a few days ago.

I wonder if anyone else has used it and how do you find it? What type
of files are compatible and how accurate is the convertion? Would it
work with vocal music?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi, Kelsy.'
I was just looking at the new setup for Bard, and they have a downloadable
introductory guitar course listed under the Recently Added Books in the
music section.

"Intro to the guitar for the visually impaired DBM 02984
This four cassette ... course teaches the basics of the guitar including -
Holding and tuning the guitar; The D, G, A7, E7, Bm7, Em, C, B7, D7 and F
chords; The Rock Strum, Bluegrass and Waltz rhythm patterns; And all of the
notes in first position. While doing this you will learn the songs "Amazing
Grace," "In the Garden," "Silver Bells," "I'll Fly Away," "Mountain Dew,"
"Rocky Top," "America the Beautiful," "Buffalo Gals," "Oh Danny Boy" and "G
Boogie." There are over 20 recorded tracks for you to listen to and play
along with. The Guitar by Ear lesson "If" is also included which will teach
you the actual finger-picking guitar part to this 70's soft rock ballad."
It seems like it'd be a fun thing to work through to help you get used to
the guitar. I'd also meet with your uncle and your friend to get visual
feedback and just be inspired by someone who likes to play the
guitar--sometimes as a newbie it's nice to listen to someone play and think
about where you'd like to go with the instrument.
More Later,
Dani
