[Menvi-discuss] Fighting for More Time?

Hi Brandon.
I agree with the others. My vocal coach and I have done this. She
and I work together for an hour and a half each week during the school
year. This includes piano because she is also my piano teacher, but
we spend most of the extra time on voice. It is mostly because of the
braille music. She is the one who helps me figure things out if I get
confused because I have only been using braille music for a couple
years and still do not know everything. She also needs to show me
different concepts that I cannot see. Using your disability may seem
like bad taste, but I believe that in this case it is the only way to
go. Sighted students may not get the extra one on one time, but they
can also get music instruction from any professor. We need professors
who are willing to really try and understand some of the concepts of
braille music. At least, this has been my experience.
It's strange that your school won't take your lesson time up to an
hour if you sign up for more credit hours of voice. A half an hour is
not enough time for sure.
