Hi, Jacqui,

Like so much with transcribing, the answers to your questions will vary
according to the reader's skill level. If he is a very inexperienced
reader, you might ask the band director to tell you which part he wants your
student to play and just braille that part.

Cues are nice to have for an experienced player but may be confusing for a
beginner. You might just write the name of the instrument that plays the
cue such as "Flutes" just before the 6 bars of rest.

Ideally, the braille score should contain all of the information shown on
the print score. But, practically, that presentation may not be the best in
this situation.

 Regards,
Bill

Subject: [Menvi-discuss] Trumpet music

Two more questions for transcribing for a trumpeter I am now transcribing
the first trumpet piece for the band. When I get div. do I:
1. write it as an interval read down from the top (Pretty complicated for a
beginning trumpeter and braille music reader - different for a piano player
where they actually play chords) 2. write it as an in-accord 3. write it as
trumpet a and trumpet b? He has already been introduced to duets in the
primer.

Question 2. From my reading I think do not include the light small print cue
notes - just indicate the number of bars rest. However, this seems a bit
mean given that the rest of the band will know what to listen for in, this
instance, the woodwind before the trumpets play again. Am I reading the
rules correctly or could write the cue notes on a separate line. Much
easier for me to just braille six bars rest!

Thanks in advance
Jacqui
