I am the music director at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind.
We are currently in the research phase of a project to build a Music
Technology Lab at our school. We have secured a 20 x 13 room for
full-time use for our lab, and are working on getting quotes to then find
funding. I'm hoping that you might be able to recommend any equipment and
software that's out there for our student population.
I need to add that I am VERY technologically-challenged! :-) We do have
a committee working on this, though. We currently have a Performing Arts
Technology class that meets daily for credit, taught by another teacher.
This project started out with our desire to create a piano lab to meet our
growing student interest in piano lessons. However, we now want to expand
it to create a full music tech. lab where we can also move the digital
recording equipment and intro. our general music classes (with piano lab,
podcasting, etc.) We have only a few students who are currently learning
the braille music code.
If you can help with any suggestions or advice, I would be so grateful!
Thank you so much for your time.

Please note: Florida has a very broad public records law. Most written
communications to or from state officials regarding state business are
considered to be public records and may be made available to the public
and media upon request.
