[Menvi-discuss] Help with learning pieces in Braille

Hi Dewald, I'd be happy to look at a score for you and see how I can help.
It sounds like there are a bunch of symbols in there that you might not be
familiar with. I believe dot 5 followed by an m or v or u, which are the
simples for whole, quarter, and half rests, are just that, rests. The dot 5
proceeding those rests is just there to show that those rests were inserted
by the transcriber, in this case, the software/automated transcription,
rather than being present in the original print edition. This is often
necessary for things like in-accords and possibly a few other things to
show the full measure for both voices or something like that. Honestly,
it's not a big deal. Dot 26 then 1 is likely some sort of grace note or
something like that, I'd have to look at the context to figure out what it
is. It might be an unusual note head. Occasionally, due to how things are
engraved in the source/MusicXML file, in some cases, there may be some
extra unnecessary symbols that pop up when the music is translated using
software, but understanding the meaning of a wider range of symbols makes
it much easier to sniff out those situations. Hope this helps.
