Hi Ming Hui,

I found these 4 books listed on the Accessible Books Consotrium catalogue.

Suzuki harp school. : international edition

by Suzuki, Shin'ichi - Contributor(s) : Owens, Luke (braille transcriber); Hill, Shane (braille transcriber) - published: 1985

Suzuki Harp School, Volume 2: International Edition. Bar over bar format. This digital file was partially proofread. To report errors, please contact

Producer: NLS, Format: Braille Music, Language: English

Little harp book : 8 easy solos for harp or harp without pedals

by Grandjany, Marcel, - published: 1966

Producer: NLS, Format: Braille Music, Language: No linguistic content

Old tunes for new harpists

"This book has been compiled to give the beginner musical material of permanent value in simple form." --Publisher's note; This digital file was partially proofread. To report errors, please contact the Music Section.

Producer: NLS, Format: Braille Music, Language: English

So if you are in the US those 4 are all available from NLS and they may have more. You can try the RNIB catalogue also.

But as Ella says this is really restricting so you may want to find a good way to get music transcribed. You could ask a question to the team at Sao Mai Braille which converts xml to Braille music whether it automatically converts harp markings. And if not maybe if you have a Braille display you could add them in yourself if you already read Braille music?

I wonder also if you are just starting out on both harp and reading music whether even just having the notes without the various pedal marks would be an advantage. It at least means a lot less to remember and maybe for that some piano music might be suitable? I don’t know as I am not a harpist. If anyone knows any blind harp players that would be ideal to have someone who can guide you better.

Jeanie

Subject: [Menvi-discuss] Harp Scores in Braille

Hello all,

I am currently learning the harp. Does anyone know where I could get Braille scores for harp?

My harp only has 27 strings, so maybe beginner to intermediate level?

At the moment, I try to remember the pieces through the solfege that my tutor dictates. But, I realise that having the scores might be faster for my learning.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thank you

Best regards,

Ming Hui
