Hi Chris,
I think SMB will convert the MXL files. To try just open a new print
document. Press alt F11 to bring up the add music dialogue box and see if
your file is there or if this format is in the list of options. If you can
add the file go ahead and add it and then you just press Ctrl T to
translate.
You can add multiple music files to the one print document if creating a
book and even add text between them before translating.
If you can't insert the MXL then here is how to convert in MuseScore.
You can open the mxl direct from the usual file open dialogue box, it is not
an import process.
Then go to file export and in the combo box that usually is showing pdf open
this and select xml. Then go to the second combo box (if using a screen
reader you have to press enter to open each of these boxes, arrow to what
you want and press enter again to select it and close the box, then you can
arrow to the next one, tab does not work). In the second box choose the
second option down which is uncompressed xml and then you can tab to the
export button.
If you need any more specifics please ask.
Jeanie

Subject: [Menvi-discuss] Converting MXL to XML for translation by Sao Mai
Braille
Hi, all. I have just downloaded SMB from the Sao Mai Center. I'm hoping to
translate some XML files into Braille. Here are my questions:
I have some MXL files currently. How do I convert these to XML which SMB
needs?
If I am in Muse Score, will it export to XML?
Thanks so much for any guidance,
Chris
