Hi Eddie,
I was hoping someone else would jump in and say they are a percussion expert
as I don't know anything about Braille percussion.
But, I can point you to the BANA Braille Music code 2015 in 5 Braile volumes
and pdf which will have a specific section on percussion I'm sure. I also
notice that volume 5 has a list of all available Braille music symbols.
Also, I have found my transcriber with any unusual violin signs for slides
at a specific angle will use an appropriate sign in a way that in her
experience fits all the other rules even if she can't find a precedent for
this. So working with a good transcriber to explain what the print symbol
does and finding a good solution is always possible. She then lists those
in the table at the front of the book as a reference.
I'm sure there will be an appropriate symbol there even if it means
something slightly different for a different instrument, but can be adapted.
Then, if there wasn't an option in the BANA code and you have a good
solution specific to percussion you can submit these to be considered and
added.
Hope that is of help.
Someone else may be able to direct you to the specific section/pages within
the code for you to reference. I haven't tackled the volumes much yet.
And if you are still stuck I could ask my transcriber for some guidance for
you.
Jeanie

Subject: [Menvi-discuss] Braille Drum Notation
Hello, everyone.
I'm wondering how comprehensive the music braille code is for drum notation
for things like ride symbols, cross sticks, kicks, snares, high hats and
floor toms and how you would go about notating drum fills with these
elements in a rhythmic fashion. Over the past few weeks, I have cobbled
together my own braille charting and arranging system for a show I'm doing
next month, and this would be a cool piece of information to have. Thanks.
Eddie
