Hello, all. I just thought I would report in on an old book I just received from a friend. She got it when she was a young girl in the early 60s. It is called primer of braille music and it is the authorized edition, 1930. It was compiled by a special committee at the American foundation for the blind. It was produced in New York on November 1, 1929. The text is in an contracted braille and it provides basic reading lessons. It contains all the basic symbols and a few lessons on the layouts of coral and organ music, along with explanations of various ways of presenting musical text, paragraph, etc. A lovely blast from the past.
When I was a young girl in the 70s, I enjoyed noting how old the music was that came from NLS. I think I got some music that was produced in 1918 and I think those were the originals. Treasures for sure!
