[Menvi-discuss] Braille MuseScore Group

Thanks Marc,
I have two questions:
Firstly, I did a search in the groups for the word Braille and this group didn’t come up. Is tis because the group is inactive, even if the account is still there to download scores from?
Secondly, I had the impression (maybe wrongly) that Open Score was for Classical public domain music only and that the project was moving through various sets of composers works trying to include them all. Now, this is great, but not what I’m looking for to add to or to share from as much of the teaching repertoire from particular books and exams I’m looking for and using are more recent compositions by teachers/composers who compose for this purpose and arrangements of movie themes etc for certain Grade levels. Composers such as Pam Wedgwood, Mark Tanner, Crossland, Nancy & Randall Faber and Kathy Blackwell to name a few. I know only some of this will be able to be posted depending on licence with the publishers and people need a pro account to access it, but this is the stuff I want to be able to post. Just as an example in the latest Grade 6 piano syllabus from Trinity that came out a few weeks ago Einaudi I Giorni is included, along with an arrangement of In Dreams from Lord of the Rings and Victor’s theme from The Corpse Bride. Students don’t want to play just Classical music anymore. I can get versions of all those three on MuseScore currently, but with all the usual inaccuracies and poorly made score so that it would be quicker for me to scan and pay for it to be fixed in most cases than to try and fix the downloaded score.
So would Open Score Braille suit for this or do I need to start something that works along side it?

There is the OpenScore Braille account <https://musescore.com/openscore-braille> and an associated group <https://musescore.com/groups/openscore-braille> , which was intended to be for this purpose, but it's unfortunately no longer active. I have been approached taking these over and am definitely interested in doing so, on the assumption that this would make a good place for others to get involved. It's high on my priority list for 2024...

Hi All,
I was taking a look last night on musescore.com <http://musescore.com> about how groups work there and what can be done with them. I’m wondering if others think there would be any value in starting a Braille Music Group for both discussion and uploading of scores that can be moderated by some admins or possibly restricting who can link the scores to it so that all scores there have been created correctly for good Braille conversion and are faithful to the print source. There is no way to actually share other file types such as brf, but a comment could be put on any score being uploaded if the author has a matching brf and direction to message them via the site.
Any thoughts? Do people think this would add value or just replicate what is already available by a general search?
I had also considered starting a website for my own Braille resources and asking Trinity, ABRSM, etc for permission to post the brf files for download. This would be mainly educational resources. Would this be of more benefit to most?
