Yes, I agree that if a student is allowed to use tough, it will 
make the teacher's job so much easier because more time can be 
spent on working on repertoire as opposed to working on little 
technique issues that could have been resolved earlier.  I don't 
know about you, but if I could design a program, I'd make private 
music instruction in the student's instrument of choice a 
requirement in addition to band or choir.  This way, the student 
can master the techniques early so they don't go to college voice 
not knowing how to form their lips for vowels or breathe 
correctly.  Better yet, I think that the problem is that some 
teachers are used to using vague language and when they have to 
try to verbally describe a concept, they have trouble.  What do 
you think about this, I think it would be something interested to 
investigate further.
