Dear MENVI Discussion List participants, and all of my friends:
For those who subscribe to MENVI mail, you will have received your new
membership roster #16 by this evening (Sunday). Membership has now topped
well over 1,100 - the network was founded in 1997.
Kindly excuse some repetition in the following message:
I apologize for sending this as a group letter; but do know that I view
each of you as individuals, even though we share a common musical world
together as a kind of special family.
As of March 31st, SCCM will close its last remaining teaching facility
after 42 years. The corporation will continue as an entity for outreach,
limited MENVI services, etc.
Funds are completely exhausted, and this may be the only way the near half
century-old non-profit can survive. Even I learned of this only some weeks
ago, and share much disappointment.
MENVI print and braille journals will be suspended, as there is only
enough donor support to sustain basic online services. For a frightening
time, it appeared as though all network services would stop unexpectedly
in January, as little advanced notice could be provided.
An anonymous donor has stepped up to provide the very bare minimum to
sustain basic web services in order to hold our site, and to maintain the
discussion list and your subscription services. However, we expect this to
last only for about three months until end of March. Needless to say, help
would be greatly appreciated, as SCCM has no funds to continue sponsorship
as we once knew it.
Keep good thoughts, and by all means, visit the discussion list often.
Check your new roster listings for accuracy as well.
Sincerely,
Richard Taesch
