Kelsey,
Guitar music is similar to violin where intervals, chords, and in-accords are read downward. There is ample information on the guitar in our code, and you should have no problem having, or acquiring, music for classic guitar.
As to simple pop music and chord work, the code for picture chord diagrams is more concise and logical than any tab could ever be. So continue to work on your general reading, and if your school provides your music braille for guitar, you can easily adjust at that point.
There is a fine workshop on guitar that was presented by our member, Tina Davidson, for an NBA conference. The transcript for that workshop is available at the National Braille Association website.
Mostly, be sure to see Tina's site at: www.ctdcreations.com. There is a method I have placed there for free download called "The Guitarist." It may be of help to you. See also, the many fine guitar things she has on that site. There is no shortage of material for guitar, and you will do just fine.
