Well Betty I just figured out what she wanted to do: she wanted to see
if this music book could make it into the bookshare collection, however
it has notation and since another musician on there who reads music in
braille pointed out that it wouldn't be a good fit for bookshare since
it is going to be converted into specialized formats that wouldn't work
well for reading notation, she told Valerie to just omit the notation to
the Christmas Carols and just scan the words. Sorry for the lengthy
email...thanks for your offer...perhaps next time?
You know it would be great to get Hal Leonard's Real Book Volume 1 Sixth
Edition in braille someday, but since I already have the 12 CD set from
jazzbooks.com I can find someone to play the melody of the tunes,
perhaps a trumpeter...hmmm, or I can just see if I can purchase the
CDROM of the same book which only has PDF versions of the tunes, not bad
for $25 if interested in translating this check it out here:
http://www.jazzbooks.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=JAJAZZ&Product_Code=REALROM-C
not bad for $25 but the bad news is that it is PDF grown!!!!!!!!! I'm
hoping that No-C-Notes will produce it so I can purchase it for say $30
or whatever is negotiable since I'm tight on moola anyway, unless
someone has time to translate it for me into braille!

>>> Whoops! Back up there. TWO sixteenths equal an eighth. Grouping is what we do in print music by writing one line for four flags over sixteenth notes to make it easier to read. In braille one can write four sixteenth notes for one beat in 4/4 time but it looks busy-busy with all of those dots and it isn't easy to find where the beat is. If one follows the rules for grouping and the situation merits it the counting is easier to figure out if one can write one sixteenth note and 3 eighth notes for the one beat, followed by maybe a quarter note or a half note. Grouping is supposed to make it easier to read, to find the beat. Did I explain it well?
