Kelsey,
I am a sighted singer. Vocal teachers are a very personal thing as to whether you 'get each other' or not. It could be you and last year's teacher just weren't a good fit. The good teachers I had would grab my hands and make me feel their breathing, jaw, etc. Just keep asking to feel. There are so many muscles that a singer should use or shouldn't be using that sighted people can't see either. It can be very frustrating trying to put into action what a teacher is asking of you. As for books on singing...I enjoyed reading A Soprano on Her Head (I don't remember who it was written by. We're taking more years than you've probably been alive since then.) Recently a college voice instructor suggested The Naked Voice by Stephen Smith, but I've not read it yet.

Hello,
I am a singer who will be started voice lessons with a new
teacher this semester. I had some difficulty communicating with
my teacher last semester. Therefore, I was wondering what
suggestions anyone could give me regarding how he could best
explain concepts such as breathing, posture etc. Also, what is
the best way for me to explain the Braille music system to him so
he can better aid me in using the Braille score for learning?
Thanks in advance,
