[Menvi-discuss] limitted lesson time

Hello,
It's the same idea here. The program is terrible here at CSU East Bay, but
the teachers are amazing!
I will contact the disability office and request more time because of my
disability. The teacher isn't aloud to use her office room for private
lessons, so that's also a deterrent to me having a lesson. There are no
busses that go up to her house. So even if I wanted to, I couldn't pay her
for private lessons... (We'll just ignore the fact that she's picking me up
from the train station and taking me to her house now...) :D
Thanks,
Brandon Keith Biggs

Hi Brandon.
This may simply be a money issue. I wouldn't be surprised if your
private teacher is hired on contract for a certain number of hours
per week, and the college is resistant to spending any more.
Have you contacted the disability services people about this and to
get them on your side?
Other than that, work on your Braille reading, whichever areas of
it you are weakest, to make best use of your time.
Or consider recording your lessons so you can review them later at
your own pace, while looking at the score.
When I had a choice between two colleges in my area, I went for the
one that included an hour-long private lesson per week, rather than
the second program that included only a half-hour. It turns out
that I would have made better contacts at the school I didn't
chose, plus been exposed to better clinics, more experienced
classroom teachers etc. but I didn't realize that at the time, and
was solely looking at private instruction time.
Chris
