[Menvi-discuss] Teaching sighted students proper beaming of notes--question

Hi, Stephanie.
I just looked at my theory notes, and in 4-quarter time if there are eight
eighth notes in a measure, you would beam each group of four eighths
separately.
If there are four eighth notes that straddle the imaginary bar line, you
would beam the first two, then beam the second two.
HTH,
Dani

Subject: [Menvi-discuss] Teaching sighted students proper beaming of
notes--question

Hi,

I am preparing sighted students for the ABRSM theory exams and have a
question about the proper way to beam smaller-value notes.

If there are four eighth notes consecutively within a measure, should they
be beamed as a group of four, or as two separate pairs?

Thanks.
