Typical "happy" ending for an opera...
I like P.D.Q. Bach's "The Stoned Guest" where all the dead people get up off
the stage and start singing.

It goes something like this:
Butterfly was seduced by Pinkerton, a visiting sailor. In order to do
that, he married her in a Japanese wedding, which she took seriously. He
was just playing around with her. He abandoned her, went back to the US,
and got married there. Then he somehow found out he had a kid, came back to
Japan with his US wife, and told Butterfly he was taking the kid back to the
US. She stuck a knife through her chest to give him something to remember
her by.
Cheers.
