Well, be careful how much psycho-analysis you try to put on trumpet players
because when I was in high school I dated a trumpet player for a long time
and his buddies were also in the trumpet section.  In private some of them
were the most insecure people I had ever met, yet they had chosen an
instrument that was way OUT there, so they were fearful people who were
brave enough to put themselves in frightening situations.  They were
tight-wire walkers.  I relate them to actors.  Insecure, frightened, yet so
brave and willing to put themselves at risk.  And that's just the ones I
knew.
