[Menvi-discuss] Bettye Krolick - Celebrating Her Life

Two things;

1. If you use Braille novels like that, who needs to pay for audiobooks?!

And second; My last piano teacher--an incredible lady who very much reminded
me of Bettye Krolick for her fierce determination and demand of
excellence--was convinced I could drive ... and shoot ... Seems the "pioneer
women" figured that, blind or not, one had to learn to do for oneself. And
so, she had me driving on Kansas country roads (her argument being "They're
flat, they're straight, and it's my car, everybody in town knows me, and
I've got my hands on the steering wheel if I need to do something in a
hurry"!)

And yes, I did learn to shoot, although this lady's son--in the
military!--had to finish the teaching as my teacher passed away after only
finishing the "load, unload" part of the education!

(I don't plan to use any of these skills on an even irregular basis, but you
never know when skills will be called upon ... Ask anybody who grew up on a
farm about that.)
