Dear All,
I have changed the subject of this thread to more closely reflect the
subject now being discussed. That having been done, may I also point out
that the subject of blind people driving is not exactly on topic for the
Music Education Network for the Visually Impaired. Maybe someone should
start a DENVI list. Of course, that would be:
Driver's Education for the Visually Impaired

Subject: Re: [Menvi-discuss] Bettye Krolick - Celebrating Her Life
My friend Laura who happens to be the best massage therapist in my book, in
my town, from church, was at my high school graduation and had heard that
Ray Charles wanted to learn to drive and so she got it in her mind to teach
me three weeks after the graduation and so when I went to buy some clothing,
I and mom saw a $15.95 shirt normally marked $32, at Old Navy, it said on
the front of the lavender colored shirt "I can't drive." so I bought it and
when I had made up my mind to wear it when I went to see Laura at her house,
I was told by my mom and Laura that I was wearing the wrong shirt but I
insisted I wasn't.
so we got into the car, Laura drove some distance from her house, just me
and her, mom already left to do errands and gave me 4 hours with Laura, and
then Laura pulled over and told me to switch seats, then I realized, indeed
this was the wrong day to wear the "I can't drive,"
shirt because that day I learned how to drive. Funny though that the cop
thought I was sighted! That kills my other friends who are sighted and blind
making them laugh because both Laura and I prayed we wouldn't get caught, it
was smooth sailing! I'd love to do that again sometime! Only did it twice
onece in 2004 and once 2005 we were gonna do it sometime in 2007 when I got
back from college, but the private road was under construction.

"To me, music that breaks your heart is the music that stays with you
forever. It's one thing to be melancholy and one thing to be sophisticated,
but when you get the two of them together in a way people can relate to,
then I think you're on to something. You want the sophistication to lie in
the purity of the sound, the beauty of the arrangements, and the quality of
the performances."-Trumpeter Chris Botti
