Founded in 1968, the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) is Silicon
Valley's largest provider of arts education programs and with a $4.5 million
budget and 160 member staff, one of the ten largest community schools of its
kind in the U.S. Headquartered in an award-winning facility, CSMA provides
lessons, classes and camps, arts-in-the-schools and after-school programs,
concerts, exhibitions and community outreach activities reaching yearly more
than 40,000 people. In keeping with our commitment to Arts for All, the
school provides scholarships and financial aid to young people and adults
and subsidized arts programs to thousands of schoolchildren across the
region. 

CSMA seeks a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our Music4Schools
program. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Music4Schools Manager is
responsible for overseeing a high quality music program currently in 27
schools reaching over 5,000 school children. This is a part time (30 hours
per week) position reporting to the Executive Director. 

Responsibilities:

. Oversee entire program, striving to achieve the highest possible quality;
. Hire, train, supervise and support all faculty and staff;
. Research and develop compelling curriculum, keeping current with state
standards;
. Support Music4Schools faculty with musical competency and classroom
management skills; 
. Perform regular evaluations of faculty and program:
. Develop contracts with school districts and act as the primary liaison. 
. Ensure quality of year-end school musical performances;
. Work with schools on scheduling of music classes;
. Contribute to the development of annual budget;
. Document and archive works by students as support for curriculum and
grants;

Qualifications:
. A proven track record in program management;
. At least 3-5 years of experience in music education and familiarity with
Kodaly;
. Understanding of the Music4Schools curriculum and relation to California
State Standards for Performing Arts;
. Understanding of developmental levels of learning at the elementary school
level; 
. Firm foundation in all aspects of music: education, performance,
disciplines (choral, band, strings, recorders, kodaly)
. Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate in a clear,
compelling and concise manner;
. Prior experience teaching music in classroom setting with high level of
classroom management skills, especially as it pertains to K-12 students;
. Outstanding oral and written communication skills;
. Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to details;
. A high degree of professionalism and ability to deal effectively with a
variety of constituents;

Education:
. BA or BM in Music/Fine Arts or higher.
