Then open it and you will find a file inside labelled with some numbers and a .xml ending. Rename it whatever your score is and keep the xml ending. Then copy this to a folder where you want to keep it. You can then close and if you want delete the zip.mxl file, or change it back to mxl ending to keep to open in other things that support that.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-US'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-US'>If you have a Musescore file you can export it to the older xml. I couldn’t find this till I got someone sighted to look at it. It is actually really easy and obvious once you know it is there, but the screen reader navigation was jumping over that option. Go to File/export and then when you find the combo box that has the export options for things like xml, pdf, mp3, etc change to xml. But then you need to change from edit to browse mode, if you tab out of that box it will jump you past the next step. I don’t know what it is for Jaws but with NVDA the NVDA { space to change to browse mode and once you hear the beep you can arrow down and you will find options. I think they were radio buttons activated with the space bar, but would have to check back to be 100% on that. One of them is the legacy xml and then you can tab forward and save.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-US'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-US'>I don’t know if there is any difference between a file saved as legacy xml or saved as mxl and then unzipped and renamed as above. Maybe Mark or Bill or someone else might know if either option has any advantage when then importing into GoodFeel. Or maybe someone could do us a comparison of both to advise. I strongly recommend that whenever you download scores from MuseScore to turn into braille, download the original MuseScore .mscz file and use MuseScore itself to export to .musicxml. Whenever you choose MusicXML as a download format on <a href="http://musescore.com">musescore.com</a>, you get a .mxl file. .mxl is a compressed xml file, and unfortunately most MusicXML to braille converters don't recognize it, so your files must be either in .xml or .musicxml format in order for conversion to work.
