<div dir="ltr"><div><div>Hi Kaiti:<br><br></div>Now your getting into the fun classes of music. Conducting trains you to be a communicator of music to your performers. As a communicator, you need to be able to show control of the ensemble as well as your interpretation of the music. In controlling the ensemble, you need to be able to indicate start/stops of the ensemble, and basic skills related to be a time keeper of the music (beat patterns, tempo). Under interpretation, you indicate dynamic contrasts, articulation, fermatas and special effects. Generally, you will practice analyzing a score as part of your preparation, and conduct music from a recording (live is optional or rare). If you get a live ensemble, concentrate on starting/stopping, unison performances and have fun.<br>

I am planning on enrolling in a fundamentals of conducting course for<br>

participate in the class. He said the textbook will be easy to get,<br>
as it is fairly small, and the diagrams may not need to even be<br>
produced in a tactile format so long as we set aside time for me to be<br>
physically shown the conducting patterns.<br>

I don't think this course is very intense, and am trying to get ahold<br>
of someone who took the course last semester to see how much scores<br>
were used, but I'm wondering if there any general tips I can get, or<br>
if anyone may have ideas for things I should ask about that I have not<br>
thought of myself. Any guidance would be appreciated.<br>
