Hi, Debra,

As with most things, it comes down to motivation and time. But if you have
both, I don't see why you could not learn to use Lime. We have built the
access around the JAWS for Windows screen reader. If you do not use JAWS as
your main screen reader though, it is possible to use Lime with our Lime
Aloud scripts with the JAWS demo. That is, you would not necessarily need
to buy JAWS if you have already invested in a different screen reader.
I made an audio presentation of myself using Lime with Lime Aloud which you
can find on our website. Go to www.DancingDots.com and follow the link
called "presentations". On that page, choose the link that says:
Lime Aloud Audio Presentation
The presentation will "stream" for you. That is, it will play without you
having to explicitly download it.
Just below that link is one labeled:
Lime Aloud Information
That opens our page at:
www.dancingdots.com/prodesc/limealoud.htm
where you can read all about it and actually download a copy of the audio
presentation.
Anyone can contact us to arrange to have a free evaluation version of the
software that will run as a full version for 15 days before reverting to a
demo. We will meet with you by phone and JAWS Tandem to orient you and get
you started with your evaluation. We will give you basics of operation and
point you to all relevant online documentation.Write to info at DancingDots.com
or call +1 610 783 6692 Option 1.

Can a totally blind person operate Lime? How do I learn Lime? I'm 50 years
old; so, there's probably no music-learning materials to learn from,so can I
learn Lime?

Hello, Kaiti,
There are 3 ways to get music into the Lime format:
1. Scan with the SharpEye Music Reader music OCR included with GOODFEEL
suite of accessible music software. Best done by a sighted assistant who
knows how to read print music. Assistant need not be a gifted performer or
necessarily know anything about braille or assistive technology in general.
2. Import musical scores directly into Lime. Lime can import 3 formats:
MusicXML, NIFF, and MIDI. MusicXML has become the de facto standard for
sharing scores between music notation programs. If you have access to any
of the scores in an electronic format such as Finale or Sibelius, there is a
free plug-in called Dolet that can convert those formats into MusicXML.
3. Direct entry into Lime: as you know, you can enter music directly into
Lime by typing, clicking, or playing notes in from an electronic musical
keyboard (piano-style).

Hi,
I asked this question a few weeks ago, but in the thread it was never really
answered. Basically I'm wondering if there is a more efficient way to get
what I'm supposed to analyze for my theory class into lime than copying
everything from the textbook manually. The pieces are already starting to
get longer and more complex, so if there is a more efficient way of doing
this that anyone knows of or has had a good experience with please let me
know.
Thanks,
