[Menvi-discuss] music camp

The MACH Summer Institute led by David Goldstein really is your best option
presently if you are a blind musician studying music who is already in
college or certain to be entering college to study music. David is a gifted
administrator who has assembled a strong faculty and staff. Over the years,
we at Dancing Dots have enjoyed being officially or sometimes unofficially
part of it all. There's always a good spirit of camaraderie and shared
interest to learn. And that's not to mention all of the cookies and the
cheesesteaks.

Our weekend adventure camp last week in South Carolina and our upcoming
week-long camp in North Dakota seeks to serve blind students at an earlier
stage in their development. We focus on some basics of music theory and
braille music reading that might be too basic for most of the students who
attend the MACH Summer Institute. And, naturally, we manage to have some
fun too. If I can help it, there will always be lots of chocolate around
and time to make some music together outside of the formal music-making in
the classroom.

The organizers of our program in South Carolina took a lot of photos and
video during the weekend. I hope that they will have something to share
soon.

Regards,
Bill

The best one for you, Brandon, is the one David Goldstein runs. It's
incredible and you would really benefit from it.

and I've not herd of any until I was told about the one in PA by a former
student. I don't think there are nearly enough going on in this country let
alone in the world... Please let me know if you start excepting applications
for out of state as well!

accepting inquiries and applications from ND students only, but depending on
our registration that may change, so if your students are ages 10-18 and in
the surrounding states, or you would just like information on our camp, I
would be happy to chat with you off list. We're very excited about having
our first ever Braille Music camp here! Currently, the dates are set for
July 9-13th, which would put it just one week ahead of the Braille Music
Institute in Overbrook, PA. I've had the privilege of being an intern with
that camp for 2 summers now, and can tell you it is an excellent resource
for older highschool and early college students. Their staff is incredibly
knowledgeable and David Goldstein himself is a wealth of information and
connections so I encourage you to check out that camp if your students are
older or college bound.
