Dear Michele,
I am totally blind and sing in two choirs currently.  I would 
recommend learning Braille, it will be much more efficient.  
Another thing you could do is if they are comfortable with it, 
ask someone like a family member to quietly whisper the words to 
you before the verse, my parents did that with me when I was 
younger so I could at least sing with everyone else.  That's my 
opinion.
